Courtney Coaches, Moving with the times..................

Courtney Coaches Limited is a family owned business which has been providing quality transportation since 1973. We believe that our well established company is supported by our expertise, reliability & professional drivers.

In 1973 Bill Courtney established a taxi company, Station Car Hire in Wokingham. It eventually finished with 20 cars and 8 transit minibuses. Not only was it a basic taxi company but we were was also involved in corporate work and had several limos operating for companies in the area.

The taxi/minibus business was sold in the mid 80's and the money was invested into coaches as there was a market for the larger vehicles, particularly from our corporate clients. The first corporate contract was with Nortel in Maidenhead, providing a staff shuttle service between the companies various sites and the town centre in Maidenhead.

By the mid 90's the business had grown to nine coaches, a 24 seater Mercedes and two 33 seaters. Steadily this increased to approx 47 strong fleet, including two luxury 73 seater Double Deck coaches used on a variety of work, which included European tours, nurseries, schools and corporate contracts. We also provided transport for private hire, park & ride services and local council work. The councils we operate for include Wokingham District Council, Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Basingstoke and Deane Council and The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council.

From the year 2000, the company took over various local council bus services and all seven of Maidenhead?s town services from January 2004, acquiring seven new Optare Solos for the new contracts, operating approx 19 solos, forming the biggest proportion of the fleet. We moved to larger premises in 2004, and a decision was made in 2005 to reduce the coach side of the fleet and progress forward with corporate and council contracts.

Courtney Coaches remains a family run concern today; Bill Courtney is the original founder and daughters Hayley and Belinda have duly followed their father into the company and were appointed Company Directors in June 2009. The company has grown to a strong fleet of 40 vehicles, eighty employees and focuses on supplying buses for local councils and corporate sites across three counties operating approx 37 contracts.

The vision for the company is to be the first 100% pure plant oil powered bus company in the UK. The drive behind this is a desire to be the leader in corporate social responsibility in this business sector as well as first mover advantage: whilst the competition continue to offer fossil fuel powered vehicles, Courtney Coaches are able to offer vehicles with an 80% lower carbon footprint, powered for sustainable sourced, pure plant oil.
